Luxury Vinyl Plank · East Lake, FL LVP in a 1985-2005 home
East Lake homeowners choose Artist Flooring for luxury vinyl plank because we hand-fit the work the way we would in our own homes — and because on this coast the right product genuinely differs street to street.
A very large share of homes around here were built between the mid-1980s and mid-2000s and are hitting the age where the original tub-shower, carpet and builder-grade tile are all due at once.
This is the most common upgrade we do. Original builder carpet and dated tile come out, and one continuous waterproof floor goes through the main living areas.
Nearly every home on this coast sits on a concrete slab, and that decides more than people expect. Solid hardwood cannot be nailed to a slab, slab moisture has to be tested before anything goes down, and in Florida humidity a slab that reads fine in January can behave very differently in August.
Wear layer decides how long it lasts. For a household with pets, 12 mil is the sensible minimum and 20 mil is genuinely durable — a lot of builder-grade LVP is 6-8 mil, which is why it looks tired quickly.
What that means on your job
- Wear layer specified for real traffic
- Continuous run through the main living areas
- Waterproof throughout
- Original carpet and tile removed and hauled away
Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation for East Lake, FL Homes
Luxury vinyl plank is the single most-requested floor in Florida, and for good reason. It’s 100% waterproof, brutally scratch-resistant and visually indistinguishable from quarter-sawn oak. Our installers level your subfloor, undercut every door jamb and click every plank tight so the floor reads as one continuous, seamless surface, not a DIY weekend project.
In East Lake, our most-requested luxury vinyl plank installations land in homes across ZIPs 34685, 34688 and neighborhoods like Lansbrook, Tarpon Woods, Boot Ranch. East Lake is country-club and lakefront living minutes from our Holiday HQ, Lake Tarpon homes get our fastest response times in north Pinellas, and our highest concentration of wide-plank hardwood installs. Wide-plank hardwood, large-format porcelain, frameless walk-in showers.
Landmarks nearby: Lake Tarpon, John Chesnut Sr. Park. From our Holiday warehouse it takes about 18 minutes to reach a East Lake job site, which means same-day measure visits and zero gaps in your install schedule.

-
What should I know about luxury vinyl plank in East Lake?
A very large share of homes around here were built between the mid-1980s and mid-2000s and are hitting the age where the original tub-shower, carpet and builder-grade tile are all due at once. Beyond that, nearly every home here sits on a concrete slab, which decides the product list before anything else does — we test slab moisture before scheduling rather than after.
-
What wear layer do I need?
For a family home with pets, 12 mil is the sensible minimum and 20 mil is genuinely durable. Near the beach we push toward 20 mil, because sand tracked in behaves like sandpaper underfoot. A lot of builder-grade LVP is 6-8 mil, which is why it looks tired within a few years.
-
Is LVP genuinely waterproof?
The plank is — a rigid core will not swell. What is not automatically waterproof is the seam detail and the slab beneath it if water sits long enough. In bathrooms and pool-adjacent rooms we detail the perimeter properly rather than relying on the plank alone.
-
Do you cover all of East Lake?
Yes — East Lake and the surrounding Pinellas County area, from our base and warehouse on Alt US 19 in Holiday. Free in-home estimate, samples brought to you, and the same crew on every job.
-
Is LVP really waterproof?
Yes, the core is 100% waterproof. Standing water, pet accidents and Florida humidity won’t swell or buckle it.
-
Can I install LVP over my existing tile?
In many cases, yes. We assess flatness, grout depth and door clearances and recommend whether a thin self-leveler is needed first.
