Luxury Vinyl Plank · Cortez, FL LVP in a coastal home
Our approach to luxury vinyl plank in Cortez: check the slab, tell you honestly what your home will and will not take, then do that work properly.
Salt air, humidity and barefoot beach traffic are the real test here — the floor has to cope with wet feet and sand daily, not just look right on install day.
For a home near the water, LVP is frequently the most sensible floor in the house. It is fully waterproof, dimensionally stable, and completely unbothered by wet feet, sand and salt air.
Nearly every home on this coast sits on a concrete slab, and that decides more than people expect. Solid hardwood cannot be nailed to a slab, slab moisture has to be tested before anything goes down, and in Florida humidity a slab that reads fine in January can behave very differently in August.
Wear layer is the spec that matters and the one most quotes omit. Sand behaves like sandpaper underfoot, so 20 mil is worth the difference here in a way it might not be inland.
What that means on your job
- Heaviest practical wear layer for sand
- Fully waterproof for wet feet and pool traffic
- Rigid core specified for humidity stability
- Slab levelled before laying
Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation for Cortez, FL Homes
Luxury vinyl plank is the single most-requested floor in Florida, and for good reason. It’s 100% waterproof, brutally scratch-resistant and visually indistinguishable from quarter-sawn oak. Our installers level your subfloor, undercut every door jamb and click every plank tight so the floor reads as one continuous, seamless surface, not a DIY weekend project.

Cortez's historic fishing-village cottages and waterfront homes need flooring that handles salt-air humidity and sandy feet, sealed porcelain, waterproof LVP and engineered hardwood, never solid. Coastal-tone LVP, sealed porcelain, beachy whitewashed engineered hardwood.
Landmarks nearby: Cortez Fishing Village, Florida Maritime Museum. From our Holiday warehouse it takes about 85 minutes to reach a Cortez job site, which means same-day measure visits and zero gaps in your install schedule.

Coastal-tone LVP, sealed porcelain, beachy whitewashed engineered hardwood. Luxury Vinyl Plank is one of the top picks for Cortez homeowners working with our crew, particularly in Historic Cortez Village.
-
What should I know about luxury vinyl plank in Cortez?
Salt air, humidity and barefoot beach traffic are the real test here — the floor has to cope with wet feet and sand daily, not just look right on install day. Beyond that, nearly every home here sits on a concrete slab, which decides the product list before anything else does — we test slab moisture before scheduling rather than after.
-
What wear layer do I need?
For a family home with pets, 12 mil is the sensible minimum and 20 mil is genuinely durable. Near the beach we push toward 20 mil, because sand tracked in behaves like sandpaper underfoot. A lot of builder-grade LVP is 6-8 mil, which is why it looks tired within a few years.
-
Is LVP genuinely waterproof?
The plank is — a rigid core will not swell. What is not automatically waterproof is the seam detail and the slab beneath it if water sits long enough. In bathrooms and pool-adjacent rooms we detail the perimeter properly rather than relying on the plank alone.
-
Do you cover all of Cortez?
Yes — Cortez and the surrounding Manatee County area, from our base and warehouse on Alt US 19 in Holiday. Free in-home estimate, samples brought to you, and the same crew on every job.
-
Is LVP really waterproof?
Yes, the core is 100% waterproof. Standing water, pet accidents and Florida humidity won’t swell or buckle it.
-
Can I install LVP over my existing tile?
In many cases, yes. We assess flatness, grout depth and door clearances and recommend whether a thin self-leveler is needed first.
